I am trying to set up a script that an administrator account will run before moving files into production to check, using the qlog utility, that a user has the file they plan to implement checked out. The script gets a list of files that are being moved to production and then users qlog -l for each file to ensure that the user has all the files they need checked out.

However, the adminstrator accounts currently only have read-only access to the qvcs directories for auditing purposes. Is there any way to run qlog and get output? When I tried to get our adminstrator to test he got error messages running qlog.exe.

I tried to work around this by moving qlog to another directory which does allow it to be ran without breaking rules for auditing, but then qlog throws back an error that it can't open the archive file. I wanted to check if there was any workaround that I may have been missing.

Thanks,
Carlton

I am also going to post this in the general discussion as I just noticed that forum is more active. Sorry.

Hmmm. QVCS users need to have read/write/update/delete access to the archive directories. This is a fundamental contraint built into the product.

There's no ready workaround that comes to mind -- aside from having someone who does have the needed file permissions perform the auditing task.
